We give space to a few extracts from the many letters received from those who, in remitting for their subscriptions have taken the occasion to comment on the paper. We are pleased to receive subscriptions even without comment, for they are practical testimonials as to the paper's merit, but, just at this time, we must admit that we take considerable pride in receiving such encouraging letters as are here appended. They show that our endeavors to give the market gardener and trucker a practical journal which should fully meet his needs in the line of gardening literature is appreciated. Veneti Market Gardeners 1927 Book Description:

This website tells the story of a group of young Italian men who arrived in Adelaide in 1927. They came from the Veneto region in the north-east of Italy. Within a few years they established commercial market gardens in the western suburbs about eight kilometres from Adelaide. They farmed on Frogmore, Grange, Findon and Valetta Roads and formed a close community of families up to the 1970s. These men and their wives and children made an important contribution to the production of fresh food in South Australia.
